In the Bag: Emma Gott

I work very closely with brands across a range of services—I tailor them to their business and communications needs and objectives. The industry has changed a lot since I started 8 years ago, which has forced me to constantly evolve and be innovative in my approach. No two days are ever the same, which keeps me on my toes, and keeps life very interesting!

I would love to say that I have a clear code of dressing, but my style is very much dictated by my mood and environment. I like to support local Australian and New Zealand designers where I can, and I love Vestiaire for second-hand special gems. One thing that hasn't changed over the years is my obsession with ugly, chunky shoes—they’re kind of the cornerstone to most of my outfits.

I try to stick to a routine of sorts in the morning, as I find it sets a nice tone for the day. I love to wake up early and get in some kind of exercise, ideally as the sun is poking its nose out. Then I’ll have a swim in the ocean followed by coffee in the sun with my boyfriend, while sorting through emails and making a plan of attack for the day.

I always carry my phone so I can work on the go wherever I am. It also acts as my wallet—I was a bit late to the party with tap and pay, but it has revolutionised the number of things I need to carry. I have a Suki Clutch for running errands and have recently enjoyed taking the Sonja Bag for a spin—it’s the perfect size to fit my laptop inside.

I follow a less is more approach to beauty, and find that it is more about what you put in your body than what you put on the outside. That said, my current heroes that have got me through lockdown here in New South Wales are Christophe Robin Baby Blonde hair mask, David Mallett shampoo and RMS cover-up—I prefer not to wear makeup during the day, but this bad boy gives great natural coverage for under the eye. I also love Maison Louise Marie perfume oil, which gets better as the day goes on, and the oil sinks into your skin. And Weleda Skin Food, which is a godsend for dry skin. I use it as a hand cream. And finally, swimming! Jumping in the ocean is the best thing you can do for your skin. It’s the ultimate glow up.
